For me, every journey begins with music, and Scotland is no exception.

Once a year, there was a folk music festival on the shores of the Sea of Galilee. I would pack up my baby girls, and we would spend the weekend immersed in live music, crafting, and dancing barefoot on the grass to spontaneous jam sessions. American, Irish, and Scottish folk songs wove through the air -It was an oasis—our own little Woodstock amidst the chaos of the world. As a young mother, it was regenerating, moments of pure magic.

What stood out to me then—and even more so now—is that every Scottish song felt like a love story, a sort of love letter to the land. The melodies carried an immense connection to nature, an unbreakable bond between the people and their homeland, and a deep yearning to return for those who had left. It was a love of country so profound that I knew Scotland had to be something incredibly special.

And so, this was the natural next destination for Karibou. I immersed myself in months of research and planning, and asked my Dad to join me on a scouting tour, knowing that it would be an experience to treasure forever.

Now, as I sit here reflecting, having realized this dream, I am overwhelmed with emotion. With my aging father by my side, we embarked on an intense seven-day, 3,500-kilometer EPIC journey through towering mountains, rolling valleys, serene lochs, and whisky heaven.

And so, the love story of Scotland begins as you travel through the raw beauty of its nearly untouched landscapes.  It immediately envelops you, igniting a passion like the embrace of a first true love. With every kilometer, every turn, the sensation intensifies—as if experiencing nature for the very first time. It is exhilarating, breathtaking, and even brought me to tears in sheer awe.  The beautiful mist over the Highlands, the sound of the rushing waterfalls cascading down the mountains as if the earth itself is weeping, while below, the majestic herds roam wild and free unburdened by the weight of time.  It felt like stepping into the very heart of those Scottish folk songs.

But it doesn’t end there. Scottish culture is about getting back to basics—embracing the raw beauty of nature, savoring the purest ingredients of a single malt whisky, and coming together with neighbors. No frills, no fuss—just connection, tradition, and a good drink.

And just like in those beautifully sung love letters, I'm already yearning to return.
